With the passing of time your skin naturally loses its full, youthful and firm appearance. This is due to the skins natural ageing process. As we get older the amount of collagen that our bodies produce gradually slows down. Collagen is what gives the skin a firm and youthful looking appearance. Sculptra® is a clinically proven injectable treatment that stimulates the body's own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Sculptra® also cal restore lost facial volume gradually giving you a fuller, younger looking face. Sculptra® can be used to treat the following;
Two to three treatments are usually required to give a natural effect and the results will be noticeable in about 6 weeks although this may vary. Clinical studies of Sculptra® have shown that the results can last up to two years after you have completed your last treatment. Frequently Asked Questions These FAQs have been taken from the Sculptra® brochure we hold in the clinic. If you would like to recieve a copy of this and other wrinkle softening injectable procedures then please compete the form on the right of this page and we will post one out to you. Why is Sculptra® Different? A number of chouces are available to you when you are deciding on treatment. Common temporary fillers do not provide long term reduction of wrinkles and creases and their results are often short lived; meaning that you may have to return many times to treat the same line again. Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator that reduces lines, wrinkles and folds and replaces the fullness of the face that has been lost by the ageing process. Sculptra® works by stimulating you own facial collagen production to replenish youe skin, providing a natural looking result. It works gradually to restore what has been lost and once your treatment plan is complete, the results can last for up to two years after your last treatment. Who performs treatment with Sculptra®? A qualified healthcare professional who has completed the Sculptra® training programme certified by sanofi-aventis. For a list of trained healthcare professionals visit www.sculptra.co.uk or call 0800 0852046 Does the treatment hurt? As with all injections you will feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief burning sensation at the injection site. An ice pack applied after the treatment will help to calm your skin. If necessary, your practitioner will give you a local anaesthetic. What must I bear in mind after the treatment? Your healthcare professional will give you special aftercare instructions. For optimum effects it is important to massage the treated area twice daily for one month. Inform you healthcare professional if any side effects occur, for example inflammation or small bumps in the treated area. Are there ant side effects? The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra® includes bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of injection. These side effects generally resolve in 2-6 days. One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra® can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These small bumps may not be visible, and you may only notice them when you press in the treated area, have also been reported. As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection. Report any side effects to your healthcare professional. Side effects can be avoided or reduced if you ensure you have treatment by someone who has completed the Sculptra® training programme and you follow your proper aftercare tips. Are the results from Sculptra® immediate? At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra® worked immediately because of the swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body you may look as you did before the treatment. Sculptra® takes time to work, results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks. Your healthcare professional will see you again in a few weeks to assess you: generally 2-3 treatments may be necessary to obtain the required results. However, in contrast to some other treatments which require refresher sessions, after the end of your Sculptra® programme the results can last for up to 2 years after your last treatment (results can differ depending on age, treatment required and the type os procedure used) For before and after photos please visit http://www.sculptra.co.uk/content.asp?section=3&subsection=1 |
