What is a wrinkle softening product?

The wrinkle softening product is a prescription only drug that is injected into the muscles for cosmetic purposes that improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. It is a non surgical physician-administered treatment that works by reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines that have developed over time.

As we grow older the skin goes through a natural ageing process. This process can also be made worse with excessive exposure to the sun or sun beds. Stress is even a major factor in how our skin looks as is over consumption of alcohol. Frown lines appear over time but can be temporarily smoothed out for a period of 3-6 months.

No anaestetic is required for this injectable treatment and you will be placed in a reclining position. The Nurse Practitioner will determine where to administer the drug by examining your ability to move muscles in your brow area. The entire injection process should take in the region of just 10 minutes. There is no recovery time needed after treatment and you will be able to return to normal activities straight away. It will take a few days for you to notice the results and you will be invited back for a follow up consultation the week after if you require. Results may vary.
